Gretchen F.
This month’s Employee Spotlight features Gretchen F., a dedicated BDSer for over three years. Beginning her BDS career as a part-time employee, she is now making her mark as a Sr. Results Specialist on one of our major account teams, ensuring that all programs are successful and are meeting client goals. In addition, she partners closely with the Client Service Team on a daily basis to analyze data, staff the ASR team, and allocate marketing materials to the field team for successful execution. Outside of work, Gretchen, being a big Disneyland fan, makes monthly trips with her family to Happiest Place on Earth. One day, she hopes to take her family on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas and to Disney’s Aulani in Hawaii!
Fun Fact: In April of this year, Gretchen’s daughter performed with her dance team in a Disney parade – a dream come true for the both of them!
Q: What is your favorite part about working for BDS?
A: There are many reasons why I like working for BDS – I like the people, and everyone is amazing. I absolutely love that I am viewed as a person, an individual, with a family and a life outside of my career. Not just as a number, or a faceless employee, identified by a file number. BDS truly cares about their employees and have proven that to me time and again.
Q: What song best describes your work ethic? Why?
A: Well, if it was a band I had to choose (and it was Q4), I’d say Panic at the Disco. But, since it’s a song, I am going to go with Donna Summer’s “She Works Hard for the Money.”
Q: What’s the best advice that anyone ever gave you?
A: Always mute your phone when you’re on a WebEx call? Ha! But in all seriousness, when I first started in the professional world many, MANY years ago, I was lucky enough to be mentored by the President of a large sales company I was working for. For whatever reason, he saw something in me, and took a liking to me. I learned a lot from Mark Jonah, but this one quote has always stuck with me: “I used to complain that I never had any shoes, until I met a man that didn’t have any feet.” He taught me that no matter how hard things are, or how bad things may get, there is always someone who is worse off. So, appreciate what you have, and be thankful for every moment as tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone.
Q: What is your favorite holiday? Why?
A: Halloween! Absolutely my favorite! It is a fun holiday that doesn’t require gift giving, wrapping or hours of cooking, and I get to dress up (without being looked at funny)! We go all out with the decorations and almost always have a Halloween party. I love dressing up with my kids; we do group costumes and make most of them ourselves. We already have our costumes for next year decided!
Q: If you’re a new addition to the crayon box, what color would you be and why?
A: Glitter! Because it’s my favorite color and I sparkle wherever I go!
