BUILDING BRAND CHAMPIONS TO DRIVE BRAND AND PRODUCT AWARENESS FOR META

While emerging into the retail sector, Meta was on a mission to drive awareness for their latest consumer electronics products. To draw attention to their Portal products, Meta partnered with MAG Experiential to invest in training for Retail Sales Associates (RSA) throughout Best Buy locations across the US. Ultimately, the goal was to drive Portal product awareness, RSA product knowledge, and increase the rate of recommendation. Through creative and innovative strategies, we incorporated a digital element (wait for it…) into the training program that not only raised product knowledge, but provided RSAs with a fun incentive.

A New Way of Training

To take in-person training to a new level, we incorporated a digital extension into the training program with a traveling Portal vending machine. After RSAs completed demos of new Portal products, they received a code to enter into the vending machine. The RSAs answered quiz questions on the vending machine to test their knowledge. If answered correctly, the RSA wins a free branded prize!

Building Excitement

To build excitement and demand for the training program, branded content, such as, posters and cards were placed in Best Buy stores. RSAs and managers scanned the QR codes on the posters to vote to bring the vending machine to their stores.

How It Works

Portal Microsite

The QR codes directed RSAs and store managers to a Portal microsite. The microsite included new Facebook Portal product videos, training courses, Portal Go giveaways, sweepstakes, and an online store where they could purchase Portal products. The site featured a Tap-a-Tech™ widget that allowed RSAs and managers to directly speak with Portal experts.

Best Buy Partnership

Through our partnership with Best Buy, we successfully increased awareness of Facebook Portal products and improved RSA engagement. Store management supported the initiative by placing Portal-branded posters in their stores and announcing the voting for portal vending machines during team meetings. The in-store consumer experience was enhanced through the development of a dedicated space for Portal in the front of each store.
